I loved how Maskerade takes the classic trope of a masked opera mystery and turns it on its head with Pratchett’s trademark satire and clever dialogue. The interplay between Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg adds a lot of depth and humor, creating a dynamic that drives much of the story’s charm. Plus, the way Pratchett weaves in elements of gothic suspense without losing the lighthearted tone felt fresh and engaging. Did any particular character’s development surprise you as the plot unfolded?

What really struck me about Maskerade was how seamlessly Pratchett balances the comedic elements with a fairly suspenseful plot. The setting of the Ankh-Morpork Opera House is atmospheric but also ripe for the kind of absurdity that makes Discworld so unique. I also appreciated the subtle commentary on fame and theatrical culture. It’s a book that’s both entertaining and thoughtful without ever feeling heavy. How do you think Maskerade compares to other Discworld novels in terms of tone and theme?
