I think Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet still resonates deeply because it so powerfully portrays the clash between impulsive youthful love and rigid social expectations. The language, especially in the balcony scene, beautifully conveys the intensity and immediacy of Romeo and Juliet’s feelings, making their tragedy feel personal even centuries later. I love how the play also explores how family loyalty can tragically divide people who otherwise want to be together. Which character do you think most embodies the tension between love and duty in this play?

What struck me most in Romeo and Juliet is how Shakespeare captures the reckless urgency of first love, and how that passion can lead to devastating outcomes. The combination of poetic dialogue and the fast-moving plot keeps the emotional stakes high throughout. I also appreciate how the play doesn’t shy away from showing the consequences of entrenched family hatred. It makes me wonder how differently things might have ended if Romeo and Juliet had more time to think. Do you think their fate was sealed from the start, or could their love have survived in another context?
