I found The Stranger to be a striking meditation on the absurdity of existence. Camus’ portrayal of Meursault’s emotional detachment and indifferent reaction to life events, especially the death of his mother, really forces you to question societal expectations about meaning and morality. The courtroom scenes highlight how society imposes artificial narratives on individuals. What struck me most was the ending, where Meursault embraces the absurd without illusions. How do you think this acceptance of absurdity shapes our understanding of justice in the novel?

What resonated with me in The Stranger was how Camus uses minimalistic prose to convey deep philosophical ideas. Meursault’s character doesn’t follow conventional emotional responses, which can be jarring but effective in illustrating existential themes. His confrontation with death strips away false comforts, presenting a raw look at human existence. I also appreciated how the setting in Algeria adds a layer of cultural and colonial tension subtly influencing the story. Which moment in the book do you think best captures the essence of absurdism?
